3 1/2 Cups All Purpose Flour
1 tsp Baking Powder
1 1/2 Cups (3 sticks) butter, softened
1 Cup granulated sugar
1 Egg
2 tbs milk
1 tsp Pure Vanilla Extract
1 tsp Imitation Rum Extract


  1. Preheat oven to 350 F
  2. In medium bowl, combine flour and baking powder
  3. In large bowl, combine butter and sugar and beat until fluffy
  4. Add egg, milk and extracts to the butter/sugar mixture and mix well
  5. Gradually add flour mixture to the butter mixture and mix well until dough is smooth
  7. Fill the cookie press and press cookies onto an UNGREASED cookie sheet
  8. Bake 10-12 minutes – edges will be light brown
  9. Cool 2 minutes on cookie sheet and move them to a cooling grid
  10. Makes about 9-10 dozen cookies


I am using the recipe from Amy from House of Nash Eats, since I love how she put out the pictures and step by step instructions. Of course I will most probably change something somewhere along the line, but until then this is a really really cool site to visit for Royal Icing.
